Apple Tart:

This apple tart is so delicious and easy to make. When it bakes in the oven, a wonderful aroma fills the home that reminds me so much of this holiday season. It’s funny how scents can bring us back to past memories. This recipe is a combination of recipes, part of the crust is from Organic and Chic and part of the apple filling is from Ina Garten, the rest I basically made up! This is a perfect last minute addition for Thanksgiving and is even wonderful as an after dinner dessert paired with coffee or espresso.

Apple Tart Recipe:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Butter a tart pan if you have one, a pie pan works just as well

For the crust:
1/4 cup butter at room temperature
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour

beat butter and sugar for about 3 minutes until well mixed
add vanilla- mix
add flour and mix until well incorporated
press the crust into the pan until well distributed- set aside

For the filling:
4 fuji apples
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon orange juice
1/2 cup sugar

peel and core the apples, slice thin
mix with orange juice, cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar
arrange the apple slices in layers around the pan, for the middle have the apple slices tilted upwards to create a flower
sprinkle 1/4 cup remaining sugar over the tart
bake 35-45 minutes until the tart is a golden brown and bubbling

enjoy!
